The World Languages and Cultures Department offers Spanish Summer Study Abroad Scholarships to help our students to study abroad in one of our programs: Costa Rica, Spain, Quebec or Florence. To be considered, students write an essay to explain why they want to study abroad and learn -or improve- a language. We had two prizes this semester for $250 for the Spanish scholarship to Costa Rica: Kenneth W. Powers III and Jamie Desmond. Here in Lingua Franca we have the privilege of publishing one of those winning essays. Enjoy!
