El Agotamiento

El Agotamiento
Rachel Schmied

Las horas expiran mientras
La noche come el día
Por ventanas bien cerradas
Insectos tocan su sinfonía

Trueno retumba con venganza
La lluvia cae sin testigo
Flores abren dentro del aguacero
Para probar su aptitud de fijo

La luna crecerá y brillará
Para la medianoche será revelada
Las estrellas que escondían su desnudez
Se quitarán su ropa nublada

El viento acaricia las ramas
Y el césped rociado con su resplandecer
Sombras se esconden cuando llega crepúsculo;
Ellas también temen el amanecer.

Exhaustion

The hours pass away
as nighttime chokes the light
The insects play their symphony
through windows pressed down tight

Thunder rolls with vengeance,
rain falls without witness
Flowers bloom within the downpour
just to prove their fitness

The moon will wax and shine,
by midnight convalesce
The stars who hid their nakedness
will shed their clouded dress

Wind caresses branches
and grass made bright with dew
Shadows hide as twilight arrives;
they dread the sunrise too.
