Study German this summer at

Mannheim’s Sommerakademie!

Mannheim’s Sommerakademie is an intensive German language school at the University of Mannheim, Salem State’s partner institution in Germany. At Mannheim’s Sommerakademie, over 300 German students from all over the world take a placement test that allows them to be placed at just the right level. From August 1 to August 31 students get five hours of intensive German instruction each day with field trips and optional culture classes in the afternoon. After passing their final exam they earn credits transferrable to SSU. If you are interested, talk to German professor Doug Guy for more information.

Three German students from Salem State are traveling to Germany this summer to enroll in an intensive four week German program at Universität Mannheim. Mark Batchelor from Athol, MA is a junior with a history major with minors in secondary education and German studies. Romario Mato is a senior from Peabody, MA majoring in computer science. Santiago Pineda is a junior from Lowell who is majoring in biology with a concentration in marine biology and a minor in chemistry.
