The Italian Club at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum!
On Saturday April 1st, the Italian Club at SSU sponsored a guided tour at the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum in Boston. Despite the inclement weather, 15 members of the SSU community participated. The Italian Club provided the entrance for students, a guided tour throughout the museum, and Charlie cards for public transportation to Boston.
April is the month to celebrate the Spring at the ISGM. Participants were particularly blessed by the dramatic cascades of blossoming nasturtium vines hanging in the museum courtyard. Located in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, the museum was founded by Isabella Steward Gardner, an art connoisseur and collector, as a way to make art available to all Bostonians. The architecture of the museum was inspired by the Palazzo Barbaro in Venice, Italy. The museum is home to an exquisite collection of Italian Renaissance Art. Paintings by Botticelli, Titian and Raphael, among others, are displayed for the visitors’ enjoyment. Inside the museum, there is a beautiful garden with tropical plants and classical statues.
